The University of Florida Center for Precollegiate Education and Training (UF CPET) has partnered with the Alachua County Public School (ACPS) District to offer 2 summer science programs:
GatorLab: for Middle School students entering 7th and 8th gradesJumpStart: for High School students who have not yet taken Biology 1 or AP Biology.
These two programs are supported by the ARP ESSER Supplemental Programming grant to the Alachua County Public School District.
There is no cost to participate in these program.
This application is for either program.

GATORLAB For Middle Schoolers: There will be two, overlapping two-week day camp sessions held on the University of Florida campus where students will work alongside undergraduate and graduate science and art students and faculty researchers to explore different concepts from solar art to galaxies. This program is great for students interested in science or the arts!
The hours will be 9:00a-4:00p with early drop off at 7:30a and late pick up until 4:45pm. Breakfast (available at 8:15a) and lunch (available from 11:30a - 12:30p) will be provided during set times. We recommend sending lunch and snacks if your student has a specialized diet, but we will offer a variety of options that may accommodate most diets.
Students will attend one 2-week session. Session 1: June 3 - June 14; Session 2: June 10 - June 21.

JUMPSTART For High Schoolers: A 5 Day, 4 night, residential camp will be held on the University of Florida campus from July 8-12 where students will work alongside undergraduate and graduate science students and faculty researchers to explore different science concepts from plants to microorganisms. Engaging in hands-on activities to enrich and prepare students who will be taking biology at their high schools in the fall.
